Pool Line Repair Under a Flagstone Deck in La Porte, TX – Before & After
Most people asking about a pool leak are really asking two questions. Can you find it, and what will my yard look like afterwards. The second one deserves a straight answer, because a leak under a flagstone deck is exactly the situation where a repair can go badly. Stone is laid on a mortar bed over concrete. Break it carelessly and you are not patching a pipe any more — you are rebuilding a patio.

Why flagstone changes the job
On a plain concrete deck we saw cut a hole, repair the line and patch it. The patch is visible but the deck is one material and it blends over time. Flagstone is different. Each piece is an individual stone, bedded and grouted, and the ones nearest the spa are usually the most awkward shapes on the whole patio. You cannot pour a patch over that. The only acceptable result is to lift the stone, work underneath, and put the same stone back. That constraint changes how we approach the location work. On flagstone, being a foot out is not a small error — it is the difference between lifting one stone and lifting four. What We Did on This La Porte Project
The line was isolated at the equipment pad and pressure tested on its own, then tracked by listening along its run until the signal peaked. Only then was any stone lifted. The sequence:- Isolating and pressure testing each line separately to find the failing one
- Listening along the run to place the failure before touching the deck
- Lifting the stone over that point and cutting through the slab beneath it
- Cutting out the failed section and splicing in new schedule 40 pipe
- Re-testing at pressure with the excavation still open
- Backfilling in compacted layers, then re-bedding and grouting the stone
